How can the image quality for print jobs sent to the ActiveFax printer increased?

When print jobs sent to the ActiveFax printer are in greyscale or color format, the printer driver converts such print jobs to monochrome fax format. This conversion emulates greyscale or color pixels with halftoning, which can make documents (especially text documents) hard to read.

For best fax quality, documents should ideally be created in monochrome format (black/white or 1-bit format). Scanned documents should be scanned directly in monochrome format with a resolution of 200 dpi or better for best quality.

If it is not possible to use documents in monochrome format, halftoning can be reduced or minimized when Print Quality for the ActiveFax printer is changed from Standard to 600 dpi and when Halftoning is set to Super Cell.

These settings can be changed as following:

  • Open the Windows Control Panel
  • Select Devices and Printers in the Windows Control Panel
  • Right-click at the ActiveFax printer and select Printing preferences from the menu
  • Click at the Advanced button
